The Raspberry Pi is a computer.  The connection to the light shows is that the music files and software can be uploaded to the Raspberry Pi. It can drive the FM transmitter and controller and will free your computer from being tied up during the holiday light show.

I am planning on hooking up a database to store moisture data from the raised beds and have the software turn on the water when the moisture drops below a programmed threshold. I will adding a public page to display the moisture level and when watering is in 'watering' state, when/if I get it done this spring/summer. Since the Raspberry Pi has Ethernet and Wi-Fi capable, it housed in a weather-proof box out and garden can send the data via Wi-Fi to my database and store moisture data.  Another running program will check these values and send message to water values to turn on for a pre-programmed time and then close.  So much to do with Raspberry Pi and Arduino boards. Check it out young engineers.
